Started playing TT: Good question. I think it was roughly 1995, after following my brother. Never went online but always enjoyed a good game
Started playing OTTD: Last year, found when I saw TTD on sale in HMV. Followed this online and found OTTD accepting the original TTD graphics (this was pre-openGFX). Went back, purchased the game, don't think I've put it down since. Last few months been playing coop with a mate in which we currently aim to get 1,000 points by 2050. Currently setting objectives and achievements

Happy New Year!
Found my old 1.6 Ghz Pentium M with 2Gb RAM wasn't enough to for the maps with 1,250+ trains and so became increasingly frustrated as I couldn't experience the end-game or trunk line expansions. So, some point late November I brought a new decent PC (i7 860, 4GB RAM) (and OTTDCoop wasn't the only reason... I think...). This should do the trick :) Likewise thought I would join after Christmas and New Year so I knew I had more time.
October 2010
Rejoined the public server to find a new map and the majority of the main lines created. Edited my first section of track - missing signals.
Few hours later and the feeder stations were ready to be built. With 5 other players I thought this would be a great opportunity to get my hands dirty. I've watched the pro's build a feeder station in minutes. I think I took an hour to build mine... I have a screenshot on it (but lost it...)
September 2010 After reading through the Getting started guide and understanding the theory of the networks, decided to join as an observer on a public game. Very quickly I realised no matter how long you train on the theory, you'll never fully understand it until you've done it in practice. After placing a few ! signs on a public game where congestion appeared, I decided to retreat by saving the game and playing about with it. Took about 3 hours to send all 1,250 trains to the depot....
After releasing groups of trains I quickly understood how the rail network mapped to the network plan, and how the trains decided to choose their route. This followed by how trains were able to navigate from the main line to side lines, and hence to their stations.
