Since we often use abbreviations in comments and communication, here is a list of them:

| BBH | Backbone Hub |
| Cargo | Freight |
| Drop | A station where cargo is delivered to |
| E-Rail / Erail | Electrified railroad |
| Hub | A railway junction, see Basic Junctions |
| IRC | Internet relay chat, see IRC |
| LL / RR or variations | Indicating directions of the lanes of main- and sidelines |
| ML | Mainline, also called "Axis" |
| MM | Moneymaker |
| PAX | Passengers / Passenger transportation, see Pax |
| Pickup | A station where cargo is picked up |
| Prio | Priorities |
| SL | Sideline |
| SLH | Sideline Hub |
| Tile | A square on the map |
| TL | Train length in tiles (!) |
