Coopetition Tournament
From #openttdcoop wiki
Some things we need to define for a Coopetition-Tournament:
- First of all, the games need to be shorter than "standard-coopetition-games".
- A coopetition tournament should take from 1 day (very short tournament with elimination games only) to 1 week (group + elemination games)
Very Short Tournament
- Can start with 4, 8, 16 teams or 6, 10, 12, 14 teams with byes
- Game length should be limited to 1 hours, so there can be some 3-4 games in one afternoon / evening.
Tournament
- A tournament may take up to a week
- A full tournament starts with a group-phase and therefore may start with many numbers of teams. For example: If 6 teams join a tournament, two groups with 3 teams each will be defined. In each group, every team plays against each other. Therefore, every team plays at least two games. Out of every group, the best two teams play take part in the elemination games. First of group A plays against second of group B and vice versa. You can form a tournament plan like this for almost every even amount of teams.
- It may be considered that a Tournament counts for the ELO-rating and the ELO-rating before a tournament help on the equable allocation of teams to the groups. (If the best and the second best team of the ladder take part in a tournament, they should not be in the same group)
- The group games should not have a fixed schedule but should start whenever it is possible for the teams. There should be a deadline for teams to complete the group-phase of the tournament and give penalties if a team has not time to play.
